Hi, my name is Nico De Backer. I’m a professional web developer and I’m passionate about designing, creating and developing high quality, standards compliant web sites and applications. I am currently based in Brussels, Belgium, the capital of Europe.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Computer Science with a major in programming languages (COBOL, Java and ASP.NET).

During the day, I’m working as a Microsoft .NET web and windows applications developer at the University Hospital in Ghent (Belgium). Basically, I create computer programmes that help people in all departments of the hospital do their job more easily and efficiently.

At night and during the weekends, I’m working on my freelance projects. Most of the time I use a combination of (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript (I love the jQuery framework), PHP and MySQL. If a Content Management System (CMS) is needed, I don’t have a preset preference; it all depends on the scope and the requirements of the project.
